Organize a Food Drive

Food drives provide an opportunity for houses of worship, schools, corporations, athletic clubs, and other organizations to get involved in fighting hunger in our own community. Although much of the food we distribute is purchased at the Food Bank for Westchester, the Pantry relies on donations to supplement the stock of items not currently available through our regular suppliers.

Individuals and groups should contact us at: 914-769- 3944 to coordinate timing and current Pantry needs.

Please check expiration dates before delivering food to the Pantry. We do not accept expired food for distribution.

Sort and Stock

Donations delivered to the Pantry need to be sorted and put away. Volunteers sort and check the expiration dates on donated food and restock the Pantry shelves. We receive thousands of pounds of food each year. You can provide vital support behind the scenes when food donations arrive at our distribution center two days a month.

Make Food Pick-ups

Volunteers are needed to purchase and pick-up food from supermarkets and other donors and deliver it to the Pantry. Most food runs take up to 2 hours, and volunteers must have their own car.

Assist at Bi-Monthly Food Distribution

Twice a month, the Emergency Interfaith Food Pantry of Pleasantville opens its doors to our neighbors in need. At each distribution, we provide enough food for several meals. Volunteers help set up the shopping shelves and tables, assist clients with food selection, and restock the Pantry shelves at closing. The Pantry is open for distribution on alternate Thursdays for a mid-day session, 1-2:30 p.m., and an evening session, 5:30- 7:00 p.m. Spanish-speaking volunteers are always needed at distributions. All distribution volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Donate Food

Donations of non-perishable groceries may be arranged in advance or brought directly to the Pantry on distribution days from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Please make prior arrangements to donate perishable items. Please see the Pantry Schedule or phone 914-769- 3944 for distribution days.
